About Us

Our Story

Mains Bénies (pronounced Meh-Bene) translates from the French language meaning “blessed hands’’. It is a term of endearment  given to me (Winnie) by a close friend. Indeed I am a creative person who loves upcycling and creating new items with my hands by using different mediums.

Born out of a lineage of tailors and seamstresses, I was introduced to sewing at an early age. I remember always being excited about going shopping for fabric with my mother and aunt.  In 2014, my mother gave me her vintage sewing machine so I can use it for altering clothing. Clothing is not one size fit all and so it was always difficult to find the right fit for myself.  After completing several projects, she was amazed at my creations. It wasn’t long before family and friends began to inquire about creating custom handmade gifts based on their own individual personalities and creative thoughts.  Such requests quickly grew into repeated clientele work by word of mouth.

In 2020, I lost my job due to unforeseen situations. During the pandemic it was hard to find another job but I continued creating custom pieces that inspired hope and encouraged others during that difficult time. Little did I know that inspiration would extend into my household and help awaken a purpose in my husband to create designs that encourage and motivate others.  In time I realized this was God’s hand at work through me as I continued creating each design and product. It was then that Mains Bénies Customs was born!
